My motivation for this review is to prevent others from going through the same ordeal as my wife and I did with Agata "Aggie" Carpenter, a Compass realtor. In case you get bored with my long review, relevant sidenotes are that the seller also complained about Agata "Aggie" Carpenter’s ineptness, as did neighbors who also had Aggie as the selling agent for the home they purchased . We flew out for a month with hopes of buying a house during our vacation, unfortunately due to the incompetence, and delays by her we were always waiting. We’d be ready to respond to keep the ball rolling but due to lack of care and concern by Agata "Aggie" Carpenter we didn’t have much time left to “vacation” . Fortunately, we had a buyer’s realtor who was deeply knowledgeable, and without his hard work we would not have bought our dream home. When we asked Aggie a question, we rarely got a timely or complete answer. There was a major issue with a large hole in front of the house that had water pipes running into it and away from it that we needed to find out what it was for. She couldn’t get an answer for us, we had to pay for numerous companies to inspect and determine what this hole was used for. We still couldn’t get a conclusive answer. After a week of this the sellers gave us answers in a 15 minute conversation that we couldn’t get Agata "Aggie" Carpenter to provide us with. All she had to do was ask the same questions to the sellers as we had asked her numerous times. When we had to sign or provide something , it was completed immediately. When we needed something from the seller’s side it would usually take days, sometimes past the contract’s specified time limits. The delays were rarely due to the sellers but to Aggie’s lackadaisical attitude. For example, Aggie received the seller’s disclosure on a Saturday but didn’t get her paperwork to us until Wednesday evening, which I believe was past the contract due date. She was also responsible for getting new smoke alarms and CO detectors installed, guess when she did it? THE DAY OF THE CLOSING! It cost the sellers more because of the “rush.” That’s a perfect example of her incompetence and lack of care for all parties involved. During our first 3 weeks, we asked Agata "Aggie" Carpenter a few times to ask the seller what they wanted for their exercise equipment and ping pong table . Her response was “its negotiable,” a few days before closing I met the owner and I asked about the equipment , he replied “I didn’t know that you wanted them, I practically gave them away and it was a difficult to move them, it would have been much easier if I knew you wanted them” I was livid, you could have fried an egg on my head. Agata "Aggie" Carpenter listed the house as having central air , it didn’t, it only had heat. She also listed that the house has four fireplaces, which it did, but only one of the four worked even though the photos in the listing showed them working (we later found out they were photoshopped). There are more examples of inaccuracies in the listing too. While negotiating price for the house we were told by her of a price that would work, only to find out later that it wasn’t an acceptable price to the sellers. Another major item that is still haunting us is her removal of the blinds and screens, even though the sellers had asked her not to remove them, but Agata "Aggie" Carpenter insisted, and the sellers succumbed to her . The screens were easily reinstalled, but the custom blinds were a huge issue . Those blinds are no longer available new or serviceable. There are well over twenty blinds that were removed from the windows in the house. After the purchase she did offer to have them reinstalled by her handyman who had removed them, but in typical Aggie fashion he broke the two appointments he made with us and never showed up. We understand that some of the blinds were older and not functioning properly, but most of the problems were due to how they were removed, handled and stored by her handyman. We have estimates of $8,000 for new blinds , which is a shame considering most of the windows had working blinds prior to their removal. From what we’ve discovered, Agata “Aggie” Carpenter primarily gets homeowners looking to sell their house then just lets the sales happen letting the buyers side do the bulk of the work. According to her manager, who we contacted, Aggie said she was “overwhelmed,” another Compass realtor told me that no realtor at Compass should be overwhelmed due to the many resources they have at their disposal. According to the sellers, they were told that there were delays due to us, the buyers, which is a complete falsehood! So, I highly recommend avoiding doing business with Agata "Aggie" Carpenter due to her lack of care, concern, and efforts to promptly follow through with her responsibilities as we experienced.

We highly recommend Aggie as your real estate agent! Aggie helped us purchase our first home in South Oceanside and she was very communicative throughout the whole process. Aggie brings her years of experience, area knowledge and excellent negotiation skills during closing. When we first started our home search, we noticed all of Aggie’s listings in the area, and, now from first hand experience, we understand why! An added bonus: Our home required some work before move-in and Aggie has gone the extra mile with providing us additional assistance coordinating our key lock boxes and providing awesome referrals! Thank you for all of your help! If you are deciding on a home in Oceanside, we definitely recommend Aggie!

In March 2021, Agata Carpenter represented me in the successful sale of my South Oceanside home. From start to finish, Aggie was GREAT to work with. In my experience, Agata is a true professional- knowledgeable, ethical, hard working, and very responsive with excellent communication skills. I always felt that she really listened to me and was looking out for my best interest. She definitely knows her market. Over the years, I had seen several of her “for sale” signs in my neighborhood. Her homes seemed to sell quickly and for top dollar. (I interviewed other agents before hiring Aggie, and she sold the house for between $50,000 and $160,000 OVER the suggested listing prices of the other agents. Based on the number of showings and offers received, I’m comfortable that both buyer and I found the fair market value of the home.) Aggie provided an EXCEPTIONAL level of service. As I had moved into temporary quarters about 3 hours away, Aggie oversaw the painting, cleaning, window washing, and staging of the property. Wow - that’s time consuming. What a relief to know that Aggie was on the job in my absence. Agata kept me fully informed throughout the process and was responsive to my questions. She was particularly helpful when it came filling out the disclosure forms. I could go on and on, but for me the bottom line is this: one can’t go wrong in choosing Aggie to represent you in your real estate transactions and I fully recommend her without hesitation.

From the beginning, Aggie was knowledgeable and had done her homework, letting us know what to expect and everything she would do to help us sell our house. We had an unexpected repair that needed to be resolved and we were not local to take care of the issue. Aggie stepped in without any delay and was our guardian angel taking care of everything and making herself available for every repairman and adjuster that was coming to the property. What could have been a catastrophe was made an easy fix thanks to Aggie's service and care. The level of service was beyond expectations and we felt like we had a premier concierge Real Estate expert in our corner. Having bought and sold multiple properties, I can honestly say working with Aggie was simply the best experience we have ever had. Aggie is knowledgeable, honest and a great negotiator, she was a joy to work with and we knew we could trust her from our first call.

Amazing agent! Helped us to buy 2 homes in Oceanside in 2009 and 2011. Extremely knowledgeable and personable! Aggie helped us negotiate the best price possible and made the transaction fast and easy especially we had to purchase foreclosures both times and negotiate with the bank. Highly recommend!
