    Working with Mark & Mary was a wonderful experience. With their tremendous knowledge of the real estate market, city ordnances ,zoning and codes and their incredible marketing skills we were able to sell my home well over my anticipated selling price in less than a week. They went far and beyond with assisting with the attorneys , potential buyers and city officials. If you want to sell your home , go with the Slade Team . You won’t be disappointed.

    We met Mark during an open house where he was the listing agent. We found him to be very straightforward and honest and we decided to work with him thereafter. He is a strong advocate for his clients, has their best interest in mind and is willing to work within your boundaries, while also giving you a dose of reality. The real estate market for the past 3+ years in New Jersey has been wildly competitive, and while I at times disagree with the tactics used in sale processes, which heavily favor the Seller, Mark always did his best to lay out the reality and work with my needs to find me the most palatable solution. I appreciated how Mark was available at all hours and extremely responsive. He accommodated our schedule and I never felt forced to do anything; I genuinely felt like he was willing to invest weekend after weekend going to open houses to make sure we got the house we liked. Buying a home is an emotional roller-coaster, especially when you're getting your hopes up weekend after weekend, putting in offers way above asking and getting constantly told no - Mark took it all in stride and provided strong emotional support. We ended up finding and closing on a beautiful house in Maplewood thanks to Mark's network and relationship with the selling agent. We were concerned about the house being at the intersection of a street and having car headlights flooding into the house. Mark scheduled a night time viewing and had his wife MaryCeu drive around the block in her car to make sure we were comfortable with the decision; this was above and beyond service and truly warmed my heart; I will never forget how cared for Mark made us feel. We got the house at a price that worked for both parties with everyone walking away happy. We're happy we were able to do business with Mark and highly recommend him to anyone looking to buy in Maplewood or neighboring communities! You can't go wrong with Mark on your side - he is, after all, the guy behind the now infamous New York Times "If Brooklyn were a Suburb" article :)!

In addition to the staging, they provided us with valuable tips on how to improve the home's appeal and increase our chances of selling quickly. Thanks to their guidance, we were able to present our home in the best possible light, and the results speak for themselves. Not only did we sell quickly, but we also ended up getting 10% over asking price, which was more than we had hoped for! Mark and Mary made the entire process smooth and stress-free.     Mark and Mary recently represented and sold a property for us in South Orange. I originally met Mark a few years ago when I went to an open house he was hosting. I was very impressed with him so I spoke to him about a property we were selling. We interviewed several different realtors and Mark and Mary rose to the top with their approach. They have a very deliberate plan regarding staging, minimizing showing dates and minimizing disruption while maximizing sale price. Everything they said at the initial meeting was followed without exception. We received a record breaking outcome in a very short time. They were also super helpful during the remainder of the process through closing. I highly recommend them!

    My wife and I entered the real estate market for the first time in early 2022. As first time homebuyers, we started this process full of ignorance and naivety about the ultra-competitive and incredibly complex real estate journey we were about to embark on. We started this process touring properties with multiple different agents all over the NJ suburbs, not feeling any more educated on the market nor feeling like we had an advocate looking out for our best interest as buyers. That is, until we were lucky enough to have Cory pick up one of our inquiries to view a home in his territory. From day 1, we knew there was something different about Cory. We left our first meeting and home tour with a far better understanding of the key details we needed to consider in buying a home, the locations we were interested in, and the status of market in general, than we had ever gotten from any other agent in the past. From that point on, Cory was diligent in understanding our budget, needs, and desires, and curtailed a home search for us that always met our requirements. He was patient and selective with us as to not waste our time and so we could focus on properties he thought we would love. There were even many times Cory steered us away from properties after he would uncover issues/concerns that weren’t fully transparent to us new buyers. Cory helped us navigate the offer and contract process, and how to make our offers as competitive as possible, while never being pushy or aggressive. He was focused on making sure we were excited about the house and comfortable with our offer. It was evident he had our interests in mind, when he even advised us to take a temporary break from the market due to rising prices and interest rates, effectively throwing away any earnings he could make on the vast amount of time he spent working for us. Fast forward to Fall 2024, and we are ecstatic to be closing on our first home this October, thanks to Cory. Cory was instrumental in every aspect of the buying process, making himself available for calls at all hours to answer our questions. Working with Cory Marks has truly been one of the best professional relationships my wife and I have ever experienced and would love to work with him again if we ever have another need to buy a home.
