Recommendation We highly recommend the Jacobi team (David and Machal). The decision as to whether to hire a broker and if so, which to choose in a sea of firms where all claim to be the best, was not an easy one. To put it mildly, as a practicing real estate lawyer with numerous personal experiences and observations of a wide range of real estate brokers over a 30 year, my wife and I were extremely thoughtful, strategic and discriminating. We ultimately selected the Jacobi team for several reasons. First, we made that selection based on their position, knowledge and expertise within our particular micro market. Very important. Second, David and Machal’s Style fit our personality. We do not prefer a broker who dominates, and sucks all of the air out of the room. The jacobi’s we’re excellent at “reading the room” both with us as well as potential buyers—an often overlooked and undervalued quality. Like going out to a restaurant, you don’t want a waiter coming over every two minutes, asking you if everything is OK. Instead, if good, the skilled server picks his spots at strategic and appropriate moments to check in. And that was the Jacobi style. Third, obviously, the primary responsibility of a Broker is to produce the best candidate at the highest price to buy the house. After much discussion, the Jacobi’s persuaded us that they would be best positioned to do that, and in our case, they were successful on this point. Fourth, aside from this primary objective, a good broker will look to add value in traditional and non traditional ways—whether that means running over to the municipality to get a permit, giving a referral for a person to facilitate the sale of personal property, coordinating a landscaper to deal with a fruit vine issue, or ordering a dumpster to facilitate a move or whatever needs to be done. Smoothing out the bumps and being solution oriented. Again the Jacobi‘s checked this box. Fifth, it goes without saying that when handing over the marketing on what for many is their largest transactional sale, there needs to be trust. And while a selling Broker owes a fiduciary duty of the highest loyalty to his seller, I have found over the years that in actuality, that was not the reality. The Jacobi‘s are honest and straightforward and have high character. For these reasons, I would trust your sale to the Jacobi‘s, and as im a client who has strict (but reasonable) expectations, that’s saying something.
